Kind regards, Sascha. Kerwin, Maybe I am not clear, but that's my point that the Task Sequence is to control and perform all system restarts when it runs!

However, the Windows Package Manager is enforcing system restarts while it's not supposed to. During the Task Sequence,Windows features are installed by a Powershell script. The powershell script is configured to NOT restart the system, and the Task Sequence subsequently nicely performs the restart after the Windows RDS role/feature has been installed.

The problem is, after the Task Sequence restarted the system, the Windows Package Manager wants to perform a post-install configuration upon Windows startup for the previously installed Windows RDS Role! That's were things go wrong, as it performs the configuration and then enforces a restart. The SCCM Client is still initializing before it can continue the Task Sequence it was assigned to So, I totally agree with you, however when you read my post properly, you would understand that I am following the 'guidelines' and let the Task Sequence perform all restarts. It's just that the Windows Package Manager is enforcing restarts without any notice or possible intervention during Windows startup! What is commonly referred to as a coincidence still happend for a reason!
